Unknown Soldier’s Grave at Kennesaw Mountain NBP

MARIETTA, Ga.—The only Union Soldier still on duty at Kennesaw National Battlefield Park has a Christmas wreath on his grave. Members of the Kennesaw Mountain Camp, Sons of Union Veterans placed a Christmas Wreath on the only known grave of a Union soldier on the field. He was killed in action on June 27, 1864, and his grave was forgotten over time until 1938 when it was discovered by the Civilian Conservation Corps. While the NBP has the grave listed as unknown, some feel it is Pvt. Mark Carr of the 34th Ill. Inf. For more info visit https:// www.nps.gov/kemo/index.htm
