Anyone have a book to recommend? The North Jersey Civil War Round Table announces its 2017 Book Award; the winner will receive an award of $500. The award will be for a book, fiction or non-fiction that meets any of the following criteria: 1. About the Civil War period including, but not limited to biographies, battles, causes of dissolution, reconstruction, etc., by an author who resides and/or works in New Jersey, New York or Pennsylvania or a New Jersey, New York or Pennsylvania publisher. 2. About New Jersey and the Civil War period, by any author. 3. The publication date is January 1–December 31, 2017. The award will be subject to the opinion of the book award committee of the NJCWRT. The NJCWRT is one of the largest Civil War Round Tables in the United States and has as it speakers, Pulitzer Prize winners, James M. McPherson and Eric

Foner, Lincoln Prize winner, Craig L. Symonds, Michael Burlingame, President, Abraham Lincoln Institute and historian icons, Edwin Bearss, Thomas Fleming and James Robertson, among the numerous authors and historians who have addressed the organization. The 2013 Book Award was presented to Rutgers professor Louis P. Masur for Lincoln’s Hundred Days: The Emancipation Proclamation and the War for the Union.
