Paging Through — November 2016
By Jack Melton · Originally published November 2016 · p. 2
We were saddened to learn of the passing of George H. Lomas. George gave his time generously to our hobby. Thousands of reenactors, members of the living history community and adults, as well as children, were touched by his kind heart. His shop in Gettysburg, Pa. has supplied many with their uniforms and other gear necessary to participate in Civil War events since 1989. He will be greatly missed by everyone who knew him. This issue is the annual November book issue. We’ve expanded the book review section to include each and every book that was submitted for review this month and, in addition, created a Reader’s Redoubt for our reviewers favorite titles. The book awards are also listed in that section.
The 2017 Calendar of Events issue is almost here. Please submit your information by November 21st to have your event included in this very popular issue. By popular demand, beginning with the January 2017 issue, Civil War News will be a monthly publication. The newsstand price will be $3.50 per issue and we will print and distribute 12 issues per year instead of the usual 11. We are slightly increasing the price of subscriptions to cover the additional printing and mailing costs. Articles, photographs and news briefs are always welcome. Contact us if you are interested. Please feel free to call or email me with your suggestions. Email: [email protected]
