Museum Of CW Medicine Names Price New Director FREDERICK, Md. — David Price, Chief of Operations and Interim Executive Director of the National Museum of Civil War Medicine, is the museum’s new Executive Director. Price was chosen after a ninemonth national search. He takes over the position held for 15 years by George Wunderlich. Price joined the museum in 2011 as the Director of Strategic Development and was promoted to Chief of Operations in 2013. He said, “Working with George was the best museum training anyone could have.” He noted that Wunderlich’s tenure saw the museum rise to national prominence and expand to three museums with the opening of the Pry House Field Hospital Museum on Antietam National Battlefield and the Clara Barton Missing Soldiers Office Museum in Washington. The museum will continue to move speedily speed ahead with plans to put its collection online, to expand outreach via the web, and to take advantage of the PBS Civil War series “Mercy Street.” “We were historical consultants on the [PBS] project and have launched www.mercystreetpbs.com to be a companion site with enhanced content produced in our museum,” said Price. He was a writer/producer for four years with a Nashville production company, was the merchandise and marketing manager for country music legend Waylon Jennings and was a town councilman in New Market, Md. Price said, “The strength of this museum is its volunteers and docents who are subject matter experts and passionate about the story we tell here.
