Luann Dias, from Summerfield, Fla., works at the post office and put together a Civil War post office display. When the war broke out the Federal government printed stamps only usable in Union states. The South had stamps printed in England and brought ashore by blockade runners. Letters mailed from south to north were sent to exchange cities such as Knoxville and Richmond. Postage had to be paid by both sender and recipient.
